The Hermit

The Hermit was created for Camberwell Arts Festival’s 20th anniversary event Chutney Preserves 8: Camberwell, The 8th Wonder of the World.
Artists were invited to each represent a wonder of Camberwell. My contribution focused on the famous Camberwell pub The Hermit’s Cave.
The work took the form of a performative costume based on the traditional Tarot card figure of The Hermit. I appeared in character and invited visitors to take a photograph with The Hermit, a one-off encounter within the festival context, a once in a lifetime opportunity for a figure who would normally be in complete isolation.
Medium : Fabric, paper mache, paper, paint
