This animation is created from a sequence of drawings made across the pages of an exercise book. The drawings are based on Madonna lookalikes found online, imitating her movements and dance routines.
I was interested in the ways fans perform and reconstruct the identities of their idols, using gesture, costume and movement to embody familiar public personas. This formed part of an ongoing series of animations drawn from videos of people performing as the celebrities they admired.
