Beatgirls is an animation featuring the wives and girlfriends of The Beatles.
I spent a long time drawing these portraits in pencil and coloured pencil, filling several sketchbooks with studies of their faces before assembling them into a moving image.
The work reflects on how women connected to male celebrity are repeatedly constructed through media narratives, circulating as secondary figures within popular culture and biography.
